G20 University Connect 2023: Empowering Emerging Minds for Global Progress on March 14th
The School of International and Area studies, Goa University in Association with RIS – Research and Information System for Developing Countries and Ministry of External Affairs organized G20 University Connect – Engaging Young Minds, a lecture series on 14th March 2023 at Goa University.
The G20 University connect programme was convened on the occasion of India’s momentous G20 presidency. The Programme was chaired by Prof. Aparajita Gangopadhyay, Dean of the School of International and Area Studies, Goa university. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Harilal Menon delivered his presidential remark and called upon to celebrate India’s G20 presidency and ascendency in the field of science and technology.
The keynote speaker Prof. Arvind Kumar, of American Studies at the Centre for Canadian, US, and Latin American Studies, at the School of International Studies, JNU highlighted the evolution of Group of Nation, the significance of economic growth of India, sustainable development and energy security issues in the contemporary international relations.
Dr. Dattesh Parulekar, Assistant Professor and Programme director at the School of International and Area Studies delivered a special address and brought out different dimensions of minilaterlism and multilateralism at the regional, sub-regional, and global levels. He also touched upon the significance of the global south and the power of ideation manifested by the government of India.
Dr. Priyadarshi Dash, Associate Professor at RIS – Research and Information System for Development delivered his address and reflected upon the challenges faced by the emerging economies and issues of financial crisis prevailing in the international politics. He rightly therefore called upon to comprehend the importance of critical technological changes emerging in the field of Artificial Intelligence and strongly supported the need of financial inclusiveness, connectivity and infrastructure development.
