Late Prof. (Dr) Aparajita Gangopadhyay,

Professor Aparajita Gangopadhyay was the 1st Dean of the School of International & Area Studies, Goa University. She had been a Visiting Faculty at the Chengchi National University, Taipei, Taiwan, and the Department of International Relations, Marie Curie Sklodowska University, Lublin, Poland, as also at the Institute of International Relations, at Vilnius, Lithuania, and the Sciences Po Lyon, France. Besides, she was designated as Visiting Professor Extraordinary, by the Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto, Argentina. She was a member of the Indian Delegation to Brazil, as part of the Government of India’s India-Brazil 1.5 Dialogue in 2013.
She had widely published in areas such as India-Latin America Relations, India’s Foreign Policy, India’s Diaspora Policy, Argentina-Brazil Relations, and Regional Integration. She was also a member of the Academic Council of the India Studies Programme, of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Furthermore, she was the founding member of the Centre for International Development and Cooperation Research at the University of Bucharest, Romania. She was instrumental in creating the School of International & Area Studies at Goa University which in its earlier form had started as the “Centre for Latin American Studies” and under the leadership of Prof. Aparajita, it survived for three long decades ultimately becoming a full-fledged School of International & Area Studies. Prof. Aparajita left heavenly adobe on 27th April 2023.
