Dattesh D. Parulekar (PhD)
Assistant Professor and Programme Director
Dattesh D. Parulekar (PhD) is Assistant Professor and Programme Director at the SIAS. In over a decade and half long stint in pedagogy and research, his acquired areas of specialisation, span India’s Foreign Policy, Chinese Political Economy, Strategic Maritime Affairs w.r.t. the Indo-Pacific, Latin American affairs, Eurasian and West Asian Geopolitics, and African politics. He accomplished his Doctoral Research, in the area of Conflict Management and Resolution, with his thesis themed ‘The Politics of Muscular Humanitarian Interventions in the Post-Cold War Era: Iraq, Somalia and Kosovo in Perspective.’ He undertook a seminal segment of his doctoral research in the United States, with a stint under Prof. William (Bill) I. Zartman, at the Conflict Management Centre of the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC, in pursuance of the awarded Junior Fulbright Research Fellowship.
Dr. Parulekar is a Visiting Faculty at most national defence institutions across India, viz., the Naval War College at INS Mandovi, Verem, Goa; the College of Defence Management (CDM) and the College of Air Warfare (CAW) both at Secunderabad, Telangana; the Army War College (AWC) in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh; and the marquee Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, Tamil Nadu; and the prestigious National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi. Notwithstanding, he is also a Visiting Faculty at the School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Languages (SICSSL), Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat, which is an institution of national importance designated by the Govt. of India. He is also a Non-Resident Fellow at the Middle East Institute (MEI), New Delhi. Besides, he is also the Governing Board Member of the Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s Centre for International Studies (VPM’s CIS), at Mulund, Thane, affiliated to Mumbai University.
Dr. Parulekar has been professionally associated with the multitude of institutions, globally, across China, South Asia, Europe, and Latin America. He is the Academic Council Member of the India Studies Programme at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; a Visiting Faculty at the Pontifical Catholic University in Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Brazil; at the John Naisbitt University, Belgrade Serbia, etc. He is the Academic Council Member of the Asian Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA), Kathmandu, besides also serving as Honorary Adviser to the Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), Kathmandu. He is associated with institutes in China, viz., the Hainan Institute for World Watch (HNIWW), the Shanghai Academy of World Watch (SAWW), Fudan University, the Shanghai Institute of American Studies (SIAS), the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, etc. Besides, he is associated vide projects, with the Kajima Institute of Peace (Japan), the Institute for Development & Security Policy (ISDP), Sweden, and Institute for Transnational Studies (ITS), Italy. He is an integral Resource-Person to nationalist-minded think-tanks viz., the India Foundation (New Delhi), the Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS), and the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Mumbai.
Dr. Mukund Narvenkar
Asst. Professor, SIAS, Goa University
Dr. Mukund V. Narvenkar, is Assistant Professor at the School of International and Area Studies, Goa University. His areas of interest are Maritime Security, India’s foreign policy, and strategic security. He did his Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science, Goa University in 2019. He has nine years of teaching experience and has published research articles in national and internationally edited books. He has attended national and international seminars on maritime security, international relations, and security studies, most notably, on the Sea Lines of Communication and the Arabian Gulf: An Indian Perspective, at the King’s College, London, and on India’s Look-East Policy: An Integration of States at Trivandrum, and on Maritime Domain Awareness and the Concept of Security Net of India, at the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Besides, he also vended on Understanding the Strategic Contours of India’s Perspective on the Indo-Pacific at Cochin. Notwithstanding, he was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship during his M.Phil.

Yugank Naik
Assistant Professor
Yugank Naik, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of International & Area Studies, Goa University, boasts a rich tapestry of accomplishments and contributions. Notably, his book 'Vechik Antarashtriya Chalchitra: Niyall Ani Samiksha' garnered the prestigious Dr TMA Pai Best Book for 2014 award, and his scholarly pursuits extend to his ongoing PhD research titled 'Society, Social Movements and Cinema: Select Case Studies from South America and India'. With a keen eye for social dynamics and cultural integration, Yugank has also received the DD Kosambi Research Fellowship for his work on Goa's decolonization and identity movements. His organizational prowess shines through his coordination of various youth-centric events and his active participation in global conferences advocating for world peace. With a background in journalism and a passion for experimental cinema, Yugank Naik is a multifaceted academic enriching the intellectual landscape at the School of International & Area Studies, Goa University.
Dr. Almin C. Jose
Assistant Professor
Dr. Jose Almin Cicily brings a wealth of academic expertise to the School of International & Area Studies at Goa University. With a robust background spanning various prestigious institutions, including Central University of Rajasthan and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr. Cicily's research interests encompass governance, public policy analysis, sustainable development, and diplomacy. Notably, her doctoral research on financial inclusion among Muslim women weavers in Rajasthan sheds light on critical societal issues. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Cicily has actively contributed to administrative roles within the university, demonstrating her commitment to holistic academic development. Her extensive experience in organizing workshops, presenting research papers at national conferences, and engaging in extracurricular activities underscores her multidimensional approach to academia. With proficiency in multiple languages and a passion for interdisciplinary scholarship, Dr. Jose Almin Cicily enriches the academic landscape at the School of International & Area Studies, Goa University.
